David is one of Perth's most passionate bagpipe players. He has been playing the pipes since 2014, originally learning how to play in the Scotch College pipe band. During his time at Scotch, he had the opportunity to perform at all manners of events, some highlights of which include the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo in 2017, the Royal Edinburgh Tattoo in 2018 and the Basel Tattoo in 2019. Since graduating high school, while studying music composition at WAAPA, he has worked to expand his experience playing with pipe bands further, having been an employed member of the WA Police Pipe Band, and playing with Hawthorn pipe band, from Melbourne, at the 2022 Australian pipe band championships and the 2023 New Zealand pipe band championships in Grade 2.
He has also has a wide range of experience as a soloist, having performed at solo competitions both in Australia and in Scotland, and having played at numerous Weddings, funerals and charity events in Perth. He has also spent six months in the Traditional Music (Piping) course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland as part of his university studies, greatly expanding his knowledge and playing abilities. |
